Z-test

"for a demo"

submission: Z-test
date: December 4, 2009

nice start, but i think it would have been more proactive to get feedback via forums or at least put "demo" in the name, i understand now what the "test" is haha. and perhaps give some detail in game stating this is a demo because as is you are going to get tons of meaningless comments about how it's unfinished etc.

for one i would change or lower some of the sounds a bit... a bit overpowering.
with polish and plenty more work it looks like you have a nice game in the makings, just don't get sidetracked with making demos and submitting them! just hold out and it will be well worth the wait.

Author's Response:

Anyone who reads the description should know it's a demo, if they comment without taking the time to read the description I don't feel I need to take the time to care about what they say.

The sounds will likely all change before I make the finished one, I want to use original sounds for the final version (these are all from Zelda) but I'll keep that in mind.

I've made plenty of games but this is the first demo I've eve released, I honestly did it just to get a better idea of what people think before I start into making the final product, after all feedback is kind of useless once the game is already done.

Thanks for playing!

Thanks jonesymater, I'll be keeping an eye out for updates on your game. I'm pretty sure I'd seen Dans at some point but I'll look it up again just as an excuse to look at his great work again.

"yeah that was definitely worth the watch"

submission: Army
date: November 30, 2008

great stuff! not many people can finish a full song's worth of animation solo. It's not an easy task and you executed it very well i thought. I'll prob watch again because i've never heard the song before and i think this video is very fitting.

great work! keep it up

Zelda LinkXRetro

"great work"

submission: Zelda LinkXRetro
date: November 29, 2008

it's pretty cool seeing this right after just watching your latest "Link and Navi" and this is why.
(please do not take this as a bad thing)
but you can tell you are fresh into the program in this one, you can tell with some of the methods you used to animate it. BUT you can also see that you were pushing all the tools you did have to their fullest, which is awesome. Great piece you have here and a nice marker on your progress in animation.

it's great to see that you've improved in such a short span of time and are producing front page material. Keep it up! you are obviously more than capable and i hope you continue to push yourself.

5'd and 10/10 for your first big flash animation

The Epic Raid on NG

"star for music, star for keeping me awake"

date: November 19, 2008

with text. but you said it yourself.

"i know it's shit, i made it in an hour, and it's just text and pictures (of text lawl) i have no idea why it has this score"

never knew about this raid. But there is no reason to give these Bobos any more attention than they need.

gl with any animations you make in the future!
btw mindchamber schooled you :x

Lol, MC is my nig, we go way back. Besides, I don't think he can "own" me if I agree with him.

And the reason I made this? Sheer hilarity. And the fact that about 8 bazillion of my other idiot friends made a movie too.

you picked a Great song *(i'm a sucker for 8-bit sounds)* and animated to it beautifully. love the color schemes and outlandish settings. excellent work, keep making more!

- The Worlds -

"i've watched it multiple times now"

submission: - The Worlds -
date: August 27, 2008

i'm very pleased with the depth of this animation. to start off with a question though i feel a bit confused not knowing what that last little scene means, does it say "wiff race?" i can't pause it with right clicking and stop haha so i just had to watch a couple more times to see which i'm glad i did because i found new things every time i watched. (including that freakish head if you roll to the left as Dennis. anyway...

i'm not sure if you meant to do this but i'm guessing you did, i love the use of the benday dots (like Roy Lichtenstein did) in the first "world" it really gives it that "comic book" feel. Also your unique text bubbles like a comic book work perfectly. I think just for an all around feel of a world i like Dennis then the robot and finally the witch hunt. This is probably because those two are true to their "worlds" where as the witch hunt is the bridge between those two. the "robotic witch hunter of the lord" and the tongue on the wall make for a interesting and possibly overlooked segue.

all around i have no idea what it's purpose is i just love that you spent the time linking these stories in imaginative ways and i love your VERY unique art style.

make more, keep going, and good luck.

Author's Response:

thanks for the thoughtful detailed review, I chose a dotted pattern texture for that exact reason. And because a drawn background would draw attention away from the characters whereas it works in the final part better.

The Brawl Quiz II

"not a fan of your responses to peoples serious"

submission: The Brawl Quiz II
date: July 6, 2008

reviews... they have issues with this for a reason, and that is because to be completely honest this is not a complete or polished submission.

first off the layout feels rushed, white backgrounds with random brawl screen shots isn't that appealing to me.
not to mention the pictures have zero relavance to the questions at hand.

as for the questions... i don't know why you are arguing with the reviewers, they make valid points... mr. game and watch can cook... and if you didn't want to have people arguing with you about that why did you have him in the multiple choice...

as for most hits? (there is no limit?) wrong, they have a max ammount of characters on screen at any given time... so rephrase that and say "more than four"

highest jump ability, not clear... jump or "recovery" because robs jump and double jump is definitely not thie highest.

jigglypuff is the slowest? : /

as for "difficult" programming i have to disagree with you, this could be done with basic "go to frame #" buttons the way you have it set up.

anyway all i'm saying is take constructive feedback to heart instead of being a jackass and laughing at the people giving it to you.

you obviously are capable so next time i hope to see something crazy :D
good luck.

as I said earlier, cooking is pulling out a cooking tool, such as a pot, which KIRBY DOES.
